Strings, Brass, and Big Sounds: CSO in Action

We were lucky to have a team from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra visit our school! They demonstrated their amazing skills and talent, playing different instruments and showing us how the orchestra works. The visit helped us understand more about music, teamwork, and how each musician contributes to the big sound we hear in a performance. My favourite instrument was the trumpet  because he played the Star Wars theme song

Which instrument would you like to play in an orchestra and why?

Wig Out for a Cause!

To show our support for people affected by cancer, we joined in Wig Wednesday! Everyone wore wigs or crazy hairstyles to have fun while raising awareness. It’s a great way to spread kindness and help make a difference for those who need it most.

My favourite wig/hairstyle was a mohawk because it was multi coloured.

  • What would your wig or hairstyle look like for Wig Wednesday?

Court-Side Magic: Our Vai and Nuku Experience

This week our class had the awesome chance to sit court-side for The Vai and Nuku Show. The actors used humour, movement, and storytelling to make the message come alive right in front of us. Vai (water) and Nuku (land) showed how both are life-giving and deeply tied to our cultures. The show reminded us to care for the earth and water that sustain us all.

My favourite part of the show was when they sang soda pop because it was so unexpected

If you could meet Vai or Nuku, what would you ask them?

Canva-tastic Creations by Students

We took part in an exciting animation session on Canva, led by ākonga from Pūtahi Belfast School. They showed us step by step how to use Canva to create moving designs. We learnt how to make our own animations and had fun bringing our ideas to life on screen. It was a great chance to be creative and try something new!

My favourite part of the session was learning how to animate using canva

Ready, Set, Go! Athletics Training Kicks Off!

Last Friday we began our athletics rotation. We were lucky to have experts from the New Brighton Olympic Club join us and share their knowledge. They gave us great advice on how to improve our techniques in sprints, high jump, shot put, and discus. It was a fantastic chance to learn from experienced athletes and practise our skills.

I felt proud when I threw a shot put the furthest and worked on building my technique.

What is your favourite athletics event and why?
